Framing Children's Art
Receiving a handmade greeting card from a child can be heart warming. Even a self portrait of yourself from grade two can stimulate wonderful memories.
The refrigerator door can become a temporary art gallery if you have children, especially if you have children under the age of five. This is often the age they are most prolific, and expressive with the crayons or paintbrush. Why not mat & shrink wrap a few of the family’s favorites. Colour mats will add; protection to the art, and create a bright, cheerful mood to the subject. This is a great way to save memories at a reasonable price.
Another idea is to put a photo of the child and the art in the same frame. Often times, it’s a special occasion when a child will surprise you with a drawing they did, just for you. This style of preserving children’s art stimulates conversation for many years to come, when it is displayed at home or office.
Have you ever thought that your child was as talented as; Picasso, Miro, or Mattise? Children’s art can be colourful, mysterious, and expressive, so much so, that it looks as though it should be in a museum. Well, it may just be one or two pieces of art that you invest in framing, but make it look magnificent. Friends and family may think that your art collection belongs in the Glenbow Museum.
Children’s art work is often done on inexpensive paper, which creates quick deterioration. When framing the art consider conservation, especially the glass, which protects the art from additional finger prints, as well as the damaging sunlight.
Enjoy that special piece of art for a long time, by framing it with style!
