Preservation Framing

The Art Tree
Framing

Valuables such as your important documents or art collection should be framed with preservation materials in order to help prevent deterioration caused by environmental elements.

When framing art on paper, it is important to ensure the paper is allowed to breathe by not sealing all the edges. Mat boards made of 100% cotton may be used, and art may be attached to a 100% cotton back board (foam core or 4-ply mat) with acetate corners or mulberry paper hinges.

Preservation glass (UV protected glass) may be used to help prevent fading caused by the sun. Preservation glass is slightly more expensive, but worth the value of protecting important artwork.

Preservation mat boards come in a various of textures and colours, which allows for variety, creativity, and imagination to be explored when working on a project.

Artwork can be custom-finished with preservation glass, uniquely sized and shaped frames, and custom-cut mat board as seen in the photos below, provided courtesy of Cilia Cheung.

The Art Tree is committed to using high quality preservation materials in the completion of preservation projects.
